Overboard

The scene is from the classic 80s movie, Overboard. Post chainsaw incident, a traumatized Goldie Hawn could only mutter “buh, buh, buh.” I painted it on a piece plywood to pay homage to Kurt Russell’s carpenter character in the movie. The only part that I didn’t paint was the hair. I wanted the sheen of the plywood to represent Goldie’s golden hair. It almost gives it a metallic look in person. I had the kids write the words because in that scene she was being tormented by children. 

It’s been years since I’ve seen this movie but I watched it again before painting this. It’s sexist, misogynistic, demeaning and throw in a case of Stockholm syndrome for good measure but it’s difficult to fully hate this movie when Goldie Hawn is just so damn funny.
