Mike Wilson, a friend I’ve had from middle school, passed away recently. I made this painting the night after his funeral and shared it online. People have been asking me for a print so I decided to do some good while I was at it. All proceeds will go to Mike’s wife and kids. Painting this picture helped me grieve, my hope is that it helps others as well. This painting is a reminder to live your passion because you never know who you’ll inspire.

For those unaware of this piece, here’s what I said on my original post:
One of my favorite stories shared at Mike’s celebration of life was when a fellow teacher of his spoke of a moment she witnessed at school. She said a little girl ran to Mike with arms outstretched and gave him a huge hug. While the girl was embracing him she said “You smell like art!” Mike later said that was the best compliment he’s ever received.

I felt compelled to make art for Mike tonight so I chose this beautiful moment to bring to life.
